This week we put the spotlight on the the one and only Hamish “H Diddy” Kirk! Aside from the obvious modelling skills, Hamish is also the beast of the AM classes and has an uncanny ability to hold a conversation through any running WOD.

Do you have any nicknames? H, Haim, Hammer, H Dog, H Diddy, The “Real” (There’s a fake Hamish Kirk sullying my good name in Dunedin)
How long have you been at Instinct Fitness? 18 months
What do you enjoy doing outside of CrossFit? Surfing, skiing, tramping, kayaking, banging on musical instruments, making beer, drinking beer, wearing belts on trousers – belts are for holding pants up, not lifting #justsayin
What is your favourite and least favourite movement in CrossFit? Favourite is Back Squat, Least favourite – Strict HSPU tied with anything hanging off bars (I have dainty hands) and sit-ups and only because I’m bad at all of them.
What is your biggest achievement so far? Handstand walking with straight posture like my hero Em Wright, albeit only about 5m at a time.
What are your future fitness related goals? Completing a trail half marathon in Kinloch, building some resilience in to any bar work (e.g. multiple sets of T2B), and beating Paige Bradey in a sit up comp.
Any advice for anyone just starting their CrossFit journey? Talk to your coach about appropriate scaling and always try to keep moving in workouts (even though I’m terrible at this).
Tell us something we don’t know about you: I lived in Berlin, Germany for 18 months in 2006/07.
